Russia Has Something To Say

By Shantleen Dhanoa (based on Countryballs)

This cartoon is for February 2024, and it references the controversial Vladimir Putin "interview"(?), where Putin rambled about an inaccurate history of Russia from the 9th Century AD up to the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War (I already found two Countryballs comics parodying Putin's rambling during the interview, on Reddit). What was promised to be a '"30-seconds short reference to history" turned into 25 minutes of pseudohistorical rambling, during which Putin claimed that Poland provoked Nazi Germany to invade. So Poland is the real culprit in starting World War II.

That (obviously false) claim inspired me to draw this one-panel cartoon, where Putin is represented by Russia. However, rather than make it look like an interview, I made it look like Russia bullying Poland, only this time without another country (usually either Germany or the USA) confronting or calling out Russia, since it's just the two of them. In case you were wondering what the word kurwa means, it's a Polish swear word meaning s***, f*** or w**** (however in most cases, Poland usually says this word as a substitute of the first two English swear words).

I hope you liked the 3D effect for Poland's dialogue!
