Kazakhstan Cannot Into BRICS

By Shantleen Dhanoa (based on Countryballs)

Context: BRICS is an economic alliance that was founded in 2009 as BRIC but changed its name a year later when South Africa joined. The name stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. In 2023, new countries were invited to join the alliance. They were Argentina, Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Argentina was the only one of the six not to join BRICS at the start of 2024, because its newly elected President Javier Milei wanted to distance Argentina from Russia and China. But Kazakhstan (despite applying for membership) still cannot into BRICS!!
