Tomorrow, Professor Deep H. Saini will take up his position as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Canberra.

Professor Saini will be joining UC from the University of Toronto where he served as the Vice President for six years.

A brief glance of his Facebook profile shows that Professor Saini is a fan of selfies, early morning jogs and animals.

UCSA President Nawaf Ibrahim who met Professor Saini in May said he was “super nice.”

“Deep was very excited to meet us and his enthusiasm and desire to make UC the most student-centric university in Australia gave us hope for an even better future,” he said.

“We are definitely looking forward to welcoming the new Vice-Chancellor to UC.”

Chancellor and chair of the University Council, Professor Tom Calma AO also praised the new Vice-Chancellor.

“Professor Saini’s outstanding credentials  and extensive international experience will play a major role in making this university one of Australia’s most innovative tertiary institutions; world-ranked, with regional, national and international reach,” Professor Calma said.

“His vision, leadership and strong track record in campus expansion will guide the University of Canberra into its new stage of growth and development.”

Students will have the opportunity to attend an investiture ceremony for the new Vice-Chancellor on September 9.
