It’s only Week 5 but you’re already thinking about November, the end of a panicked-student state of mind and the start of summer holidays. (Except those who will be taking Summer Semester… our thoughts and prayers are with you.)
To finish off yet another year and hectic semester, the University as well as student-run clubs and societies have organised a variety of parties for you to treat yo’self.
It mainly brings together a variety of different communications students or anyone with an interest in the field to come together, connect and share ideas.
This year, the ball will be held at the Canberra Rex Hotel on their new rooftop bar
Lewis Haskew, Bachelor of Communications in Journalism student and the Events Coordinator for the UC Press Club, is one of the organisers for the 2018 Comms Ball and says that this year will be bigger and better than ever.
“This year’s event will see special guest speakers and professionals in the field come and share their insights with students,” said Lewis.
“Aside from the opportunity to network with your peers and industry professionals the Ball is a great excuse to get dressed up and enjoy a night out. All the necessities of great party are included in this year’s event with entertainment, food and drinks all worked into the price of your ticket,” said Lewis.
Tickets are $110 + a booking fee and can be purchased via QPay.
Held on November 23 at the Hyatt Hotel in Yarralumla, this event will feature canapes, a two-course meal, drinks package and entertainment of a live band and prestigious student awards ceremony.
Megan Rodd, the Campus Life Manager, said that the UC Grad Ball is the perfect event to finish off your UC experience.
“Held post exams, it is the perfect time to let your hair down (or up) and celebrate finishing your degree. UC Grad Ball this year is selling faster than ever so get in soon for tickets,” said Megan.
Tickets are $120 and available via Eventbrite.
Tickets include a drinks package, plated meals, live desert stations, photographer and photo booth, music, and access to the after party.
Claire Osborne, a Bachelor of Laws student and organiser of the annual event, said that this year’s event will include exciting new entertainment options.
“At Law Ball this year, guests will see Hotel Realms brand new events ballroom and live dessert stands along with amazing food and drinks, photobooth with GIF functionality, music, a party bus and more,” said Claire.
Members tickets are $125 and non-members tickets are $135 and can be purchased via QPay.
This event will be held on October 12 at the Hellenic Club in the city with an after party on the cards.
Sophie Cashel, a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics student and President of FANS, has been organising the event and says this year’s event is not one to be missed.
“We will be having a three-course dinner and four-hour drinks package with DJ Royce and a photo booth. We will be giving away some great prizes from awesome sponsors,” said Sophie.
Tickets are $75 for members and $80 for non-members but will include a FANS membership. Visit QPay for more.
The UC Sports Ball is hosted by UC Sport and this year’s event to be announced this week.
The University Sports Manager, Tameka Collins, said that the ball will be an opportunity to celebrate the success of all our student athletes who have competed at an intervarsity and international level.
“During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from a guest speaker who has worked hard to create a new path for elite female sports people,” said Tameka.
