The 2023 UC Student Experience Awards

By Peter Searles

Every year, UCX rolls out the red carpet and invites UC students to get all dressed up for the annual Student Experience Awards night. It’s an opportunity to reward the work students have done throughout the year in their involvement with university clubs and societies.

This year, Curieux was proud to attend and congratulate all the winners and nominees. There was a red carpet (I wasn’t joking), lots of fabulous formal outfits, delicious canapés and deserts, a free drink on arrival and live music from singer and guitarist, Maddy Proud.

UCX staff Andrew Giumelli, Jesse Wells and UD Saha took to the stage to announce the winners and round out a successful year that saw 3,000 student members across all of UC’s clubs and societies.

There were awards for events of the year, social media and community engagement, as well as overall recognition of clubs and club members. UC Outdoors Club and UC Latin American Student Association were some of the biggest winners of the night, with several awards going to each club. And a ‘club of the year’ was named across the categories of Academic (Canberra Law Student's Association), Social (UC Outdoors Club), Cultural (Latin American Student Association) and Sports (UC Stars Basketball Club).

Curieux congratulates all of this year’s winners and sends a big thank you to all of the clubs and societies that have met with us this year to inform our readers of their valuable contributions to UC campus culture. We look forward to another successful year for UC clubs and societies in 2024!
