Five 2022 student governance positions elected unopposed and two positions are left vacant

By Ebony Heins

Five positions on the Student Representative Council (SRC), Academic Board, and University Council have been elected unopposed in the 2022 elections, which commenced on Monday the 11th of October. These positions will make up half of the 2022 UC SRC, as an additional two positions, Faculty of Business, Government and Law Representative and International Student Representative, failed to receive any nominations. According to UC’s SRC Rules, these positions will remain vacant until the next election.

The remaining five student governance positions will go to a vote. Those who are eligible to vote will have received an email from Returning Officer, Petrina Schiavi, with information on how to vote.

These elections also determine three staff governance positions. Two of which, Academic Staff Member and General Staff Member on the University Council, will go to a vote, while Craig Applegate was awarded a position on the UniSuper Consultative Committee, after running unopposed.
